I absolutely love this series. When I finally get around to redesigning my blog, I'll definitely have to keep these lessons in mind. Can't wait for the next two installments ;).

"Use different colors in links for visited content, so the users have some thing to guide them subconsciously between information they read before and what’s new."

A very insightful suggestion you made in a previous installment, however you don't pursue that rule yourself.

This is a very comprehensive tutorial on how to create a better blog. I suggest you to provide link to PART 1, PART 2 at the bottom of your post. This will make us find easily the previous articles. Thanks

Yes, they are indeed. But I balance that with meaningful font-weight properties and contrasting color (notice news headlines). I eat my own dog food whenever possible or I wouldn't write about it :-)

My posts are meant for readability because of their length. When I want to call for attention to something, I use color. One thing that I didn't mention that may still be worth covering is proper use of images, in between large chunks of text (or next to it) in order to relieve the eyes of some of the strain involved in reading black line after black line of text in a white background.

You say a lot of good info in there, and most all of it is correct. However, it doesn't seem you follow your advice much. Almost all of your paragraphs are plain black-whte, including the headers.

I still love the text, even if it is grayscale.
