Web 2.0 in two days

Web2.0 So one of the benefits of being in the Bay Area in this time of the year is the great ammount of (good) conferences. Web 2.0 starts this wednesday and I’m really looking forward to the event. Here at the TechCrunch HQs (or whatever you want to call the house where we’re living, working and bbq’ing from), we’re all hoping for the event.

Since friday we’re also sharing the house with Read/WriteWeb‘s Richard MacManus, who’s joining the fun with us. All three websites (WeBreakStuff, TechCrunch and Read/WriteWeb) will actively be covering the conference so make sure you keep an eye out if you didn’t get a ticket to the event. Things are looking great for this year and the program is amazing.

What *is* Web 2.0?

Recently there was a lot of discussion on the blogosphere about defining Web 2.0. Tim O’Reilly posted his Meme map and follow-up post which generated a lot of discussion. Then came a few posts here and there, eventually with a post of what Web 2.0 isn’t by Jason Fried (that I disagree with in some points – but that’s another story).

Jeff Clavier though, has a really good post with 3 bullet points that in my opinion summarize how I see the space. Eventually it boils down to whether you do something meaningful with what’s available in this new era or not. Enough definitions, go create. And if you’re at Web 2.0, lets chat.
