i think that advertisement is takeing over our lives...even in subtle ways!
consumerism is terrible, im doing an artwork on it for my highschool art class. advertiseing has alot to do with how much people consume...because if we didnt know about some of the many products. would we buy them? NO! of course not.
thankyou, bye

I've built an ad system that tries to be more relevant by only highlighting products that are mentioned on a web site.

http://www.texsy.com

It's also "open" about it's revenue share - 80% for the publisher, unlike say AdSense or others who won't tell you what you get.

It still is intrusive because it does create mini popups, but for sites that mention products, Texsy is more relevant than most ads.

I'm also thinking about ways to improve the design of the ads. It's hard to come up with ideas for ads that people will like AND that direct marketers can actually use at the same time.

I.e. creating a beautiful little movie with a story in it as a branded commercial on TV doesn't really scale for most marketers.

[...] I respect WebreakStuff quite a bit, but Frederick’s recent post about needing more relevant ads is a theme I hear a lot when talking to web publishers. [...]
