I heard about them about a year ago because of their customer policy. It's one of the best storys in the retail business.

Cutting a sad story short, they had by that time a 15 day free return policy and this girl bought some shoes for her mother who died in the next few days. Not only they took the shoes back but they bought and sent her a bouquet of flowers with condolences.

Nice gestures make all the difference.

PS: It's almost been one year and I still remembered that ... that's awesome free publicity that proves that you can get there just by caring about your customers.

The first article from Harvard Business Publishing, talks about how Zappos bribes potential employees into quitting in order to gauge their interest and commitment to the company’s values.
